From point cloud to working model

At Project North Geomatics our surveyors use the latest software to create fully collaborative, detailed and accurate 3D models for use in the initial stages of the BIM (Building Information Modelling) cycle. From the point cloud data collected by our 3D laser scanner, our in-house team produces highly detailed models to suit a range of clients — architects and designers, engineers and consultants.

In recent years, 3D modelling and BIM have become indispensable tools in the construction industry, transforming the way buildings are designed, constructed and managed. What is 3D modelling?

3D modelling is the process of developing a digital representation of any object or structure in three dimensions. The 3D model forms part of BIM (Building Information Modelling), which multi-disciplined clients use to design, analyse and collaborate.

Ours are built from point cloud data captured by our own 3D laser scanning work, so the model reflects the building as it actually stands rather than as it was originally drawn.
